Touch Design Group (TDG) has launched a brand-new student design competition aimed at second and third year degree students studying furniture, product and or 3D design, as well as full-time students attending other recognised furniture design courses.
Launched on 30 September 2018, the competition will close 23 January 2019 with judging taking place in April. There will be a celebration and launch event held in September 2019, where the winning design will be displayed alongside the design drawings of the shortlisted applicants.
TDG design and manufacture luxury bespoke interiors, kitchens and furniture working alongside architects, interior designers and private clients. A fully managed service is provided from initial concept to final completion. Based in Devon, TDG are recognised as leaders in the industry, keen to support new design talent.
This student design competition is part of TDG’s planned development to launch Touch Product (complementing Touch Kitchen and Touch House) in 2020, TDG’s 20thanniversary year. Touch Product will design and sell freestanding furniture and interior fittings.
The competition is to design a domestic shelving/storage system, with the winning design being manufactured and promoted by TDG, with a £500 cash prize, 10% share of the net profit from the sale of the manufactured piece and an option of one month’s internship.
The competition will be open to students in the UK and in at least years 2 or 3, over 18, studying an undergraduate or postgraduate course in:
- Furniture Design
- Product Design
- 3D Design
or studying any other recognised furniture design course.
